Philosophy/Biography

Rozita Shay has been a part of the New York art scene for the past 25 years. Her career began in 1988 as an assistant in a NY art gallery and made director in the year 2000. Her passion for decorative arts has propelled her into art collecting with a deep appreciation for the tangible influence that art can have on one’s life. Upon her travels, her most immediate connection is with the artistic spirit of the local artisans; the Persian weavers and silversmiths and the African potters whose imbued lineage and understanding of art is a ceremony as opposed to art as an institution. Most of her career has been spent on building her client’s post-impressionist and German expressionist collections, as well as introducing photography and ceramics to every collection possible. Collaborating with the artists and clients, ArtFactor also assists in designing a space around an artwork - a Japanese pot, an antique rug, a contemporary photograph, or any artifact of pleasure, all become the center of the design.
